Q: Is CharacterSphere.ai free to use?
A: Yes! Creating characters and chatting is currently free.
Q: How many characters can I create?
A: There’s no hard limit, but we encourage quality over quantity.
Q: Can I create NSFW/adult characters?
A: Please check our Terms of Service and Content Policy. All characters must comply with our policies and will be reviewed. All publicly viewable information like character name, character summary and main character image must be SFW (safe for work).
Q: Are there any premium features available?
A: Yes! Please check here for information about PREMIUM and AURUM.
Character Creation
Q: What makes a good character?
A: A good character has:
- Detailed personality description (recommended 1000+ words)
- Clear speech patterns and behaviours
- Interesting background story
- Multiple engaging scenarios
- Appropriate and appealing images
Q: Do I need to create scenarios?
A: No, scenarios are optional, but they greatly improve the user experience and make your character more interesting.
Q: Can I use {{user}} in my scenario descriptions?
A: Yes! Use {{user}} as a placeholder for the chat user’s name. It will be replaced automatically during conversations. This works in initial scenario description (not summary).
Q: Can I edit published community characters?
A: Yes! You can always edit your characters even after publishing. However, edited community characters will need re-verification before the changes go live.
Q: What happens if my character is rejected during verification?
A: You’ll receive specific feedback in the verification comments. Review the feedback, make improvements, and resubmit for verification.
Chatting
Q: Are my chats private?
A: Yes, all your chat conversations are private to you. No one other than you can see your chats.
Q: Can I chat with my own characters?
A: Yes! You can chat with your own characters (Private Verified or Community).
Q: How long are conversations saved?
A: Conversations are saved indefinitely unless you delete them.
Q: Can I have multiple chats with the same character?
A: Yes! You can start as many chats as you want with any character, using same or different scenarios each time.
Account Management
Q: Can I change my username?
A: No – username is internal and is mostly invisible to other users. You can change your first and last name – these will be used as the display name on your profile, and to replace {{user}} tag in scenario you use.
Q: Can I switch from social login to email login?
A: Social and email logins constitute two separate user accounts, but you can use both.
Q: What happens to my characters if I delete my account?
A: All your characters and chats become permanently inaccessible to you. Community characters remain public, but cannot be edited or deleted. This operation cannot be undone.
Q: Can I export my characters?
A: Export functionality is not currently available but will be added in the future.
Privacy & Safety
Q: Who can see my characters?
A: Visibility of the character depends on its state, as described below:
- Private Pending/Verified: Only you
- Community: Everyone can see and chat with them
Q: Who can see my profile?
A: Your profile is visible to other users, but it only shows:
- Your first and last name
- Your Community Characters (not private or pending ones)
Q: How do I report inappropriate content?
A: Please report to contact@charactersphere.ai with details
