Character Creation
Creating Your First Character
- Log in to your account
- Click My Characters / Create Character in the navigation menu
- Fill in the character creation form
Character Creation Form Fields
Basic Information (Public)
Character Name (Required)
- The display name for your character
- Must be unique among your characters
- Examples: “Luna the Mystic”, “Detective Morrison”, “Professor Steele”
Character Age (Required)
- Minimum: 18 years old
- This is for the character’s fictional age
Character Summary (Required)
- A short description (2-3 sentences)
- This appears in the gallery and search results
- Make it engaging to attract users!
- Example: “A wise forest guardian who has lived for centuries. She knows ancient magic and the secrets of the enchanted woods.”
- Character summary is visible publicly and should be SFW (safe for work)
Character Tags (Optional but Recommended)
- Select tags that describe your character
- Tags help users find your character in the gallery
- Available tags: Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Modern, Historical, Romance, Adventure, Mystery, Horror, Comedy, etc.
- You can select multiple tags
Character Definition (Hidden)
Character Description (Required)
- The main personality and behavior prompt for your character
- This defines how the AI will roleplay as your character
- Be detailed! Include:
- Personality traits
- Background/history
- Speech patterns
- Likes and dislikes
- Goals and motivations
- Minimum recommended: 1000-2000 words
- Example format: “You are [name], a [role] who [background]. Your personality is [traits]. You speak in a [style] manner. You [behaviors and habits].”
Scenarios (Optional but Recommended)
- Create up to 5 different conversation scenarios
- Each scenario has:
- Scenario Title: Short description (e.g., “Meeting at the tavern”) – visible publicly for community characters
- Scenario Message: The opening message that starts the conversation (hidden)
- Users can choose which scenario to start with when chatting
- Use
{{user}}as a placeholder in Scenario Message for user’s name starting the conversation - Scenarios make your character more versatile and interesting!
Example Scenario:
- Title: “Lost in the enchanted forest”
- Message: “{{user}}, a weary traveler, stumbles through the misty forest when they see a glowing figure ahead. Luna steps forward, her eyes filled with ancient wisdom. ‘You seem lost, young one. These woods are dangerous at night.'”
Images
Main Image (Required)
- The primary image shown in galleries and the character page
- Recommended size: Square, at least 512×512 pixels
- Formats: JPG, PNG
- Should clearly show your character
- Image should be SFW (safe for work)
Additional Gallery Images (Optional)
- Upload up to 5 additional images
- These appear in the character’s image gallery on the character’s page
- Can show different poses, outfits, or expressions
- The additional gallery is visible publicly only for logged-in users (on Community characters)
- Additional gallery can be NSFW (not safe for work)
Submitting Your Character
- Review all fields to make sure they’re complete
- Click Create Character
- Your character will be created as a Private Pending Character
- You’ll be redirected to “My Characters” page
Note: The system will check if you already have a character with the same name. If you do, you’ll see an error and need to choose a different name.
Managing Your Characters
Viewing Your Characters
- Log in to your account
- Click My Characters in the navigation menu
- You’ll see your characters organized by status:
- Community: Shared with everyone
- Private Verified: Verified but not shared publicly
- Private Pending: Awaiting verification
Character Status Explained
Private Pending Character
- Just created or recently edited
- Needs to be verified before being available for chatting
- No one other than you can see this character
- Chatting with the character is not possible
- Has a “Verify” button
Private Verified Character
- Successfully verified by our AI agent
- Quality checked and policy compliant
- Only you can see and chat with this character
- Ready to publish to the community (optional)
- Has “Share” button
Community Character
- Shared publicly in the character gallery
- Everyone can see and chat with this character
- Still fully editable by you
- Can be withdrawn to make it private again
- Has “Withdraw” button
Editing a Character
- Go to My Characters
- Click on the character you want to edit (of any status)
- On the character page, click Edit
- The page will switch to edit mode (same page, different view)
- Update any fields you want to change:
- Main image
- Name, age, summary
- Description
- Scenarios and messages
- Additional images
- Click Save
- The page will show confirmation of changes being applied
Important: After editing a Community or Private Verified character, it will return to Private Pending status and need re-verification before publishing to the community or being available to chat with.
Verifying a Character
Before you can share your character with the community or chat with the character, it needs to be verified by our AI agent. This ensures quality and policy compliance.
To Request Verification:
- Go to My Characters
- Click on your Private Pending Character
- Review previous verification comments (if available from previous verification request)
- Click the Verify button
Verification Process:
- Your character is added to the verification queue
- Our AI agent analyzes:
- Content policy compliance
- Character definition quality
- Scenario appropriateness
- Overall user experience
- You’ll receive feedback via the “Verification Comments” field
- If approved: Character status changes to Private Verified
- If rejected: You’ll see specific feedback on what needs to be improved
Typical verification time: 1-5 minutes (during peak times may be longer)
After Verification:
If Approved:
- Character becomes Private Verified
- You can now publish it to the community or keep it private
- You can start chatting with all scenarios
If Rejected:
- Review the verification comments
- Edit your character to address the issues
- Submit for verification again
Common rejection reasons:
- Inappropriate content
- Incomplete character description
- Policy violations
- Poor quality definitions
Publishing to Community
Once your character is verified, you can share it with everyone:
- Go to My Characters
- Click on your Private Verified Character
- Click Share button
- Your character will appear in the public gallery immediately
Benefits of publishing:
- Other users can discover and chat with your character
- Your character appears in the community gallery
- You help grow the CharacterSphere.ai community
- You still maintain full control and can edit or withdraw it anytime
Withdrawing from Community (Making Private)
If you want to remove your character from the public gallery:
- Go to My Characters
- Click on your Community Character
- Click Withdraw button
- Your character will be removed from the gallery
- Status changes back to Private Verified
Note: The character remains verified, so you can chat with it or republish it later without re-verification (unless you edit it).
Deleting a Character
Warning: Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone!
To delete a character:
- Go to My Characters
- Click on the character you want to delete (of any status)
- Click the Delete button
- The character will be permanently removed
What gets deleted:
- The character’s page
What doesn’t get deleted:
- All images
- All existing associated chats (yours or others)
Note: Even though all existing chats with the character can continue, no new chats can be created upon deletion of this character.
Recommendation: If you’re unsure, consider making the character private instead of deleting it.

Key Points:
- Private Pending can be verified or edited
- If verification is rejected, character stays as Private Pending (edit and resubmit)
- If verification is approved, character becomes Private Verified
- Private Verified can be shared (-> Community) or edited (-> Private Pending)
- Community can be withdrawn (-> Private Verified) or edited (-> Private Pending)
- Characters can be deleted from any status
- Editing a Private Verified or Community character returns it to Private Pending status
