Common Issues and Solutions
1. “Character name already exists” error
Problem: You’re trying to create a character with a name you’ve already used.
Solution:
- Choose a different character name
- Check My Characters to see your existing character names
- Each of your characters must have a unique name (across your characters)
2. Cannot see character in gallery after publishing
Problem: You published your character but it’s not in the gallery.
Solutions:
- Refresh the page (Ctrl+F5 or Cmd+Shift+R)
- Check that character status is Community in My Characters
- Verify the character has tags (helps with filtering)
- Clear your browser cache
3. Chat not loading or stuck on “Preparing…”
Problem: Chat page shows loading screen indefinitely.
Solutions:
- Refresh the page
- Check your internet connection
- Try a different browser
- Log out and log back in
- If problem persists, try starting a new chat with a different scenario
4. Forgot password (Email account)
Solution:
- Go to login page
- Navigate to Login / Password Reset
- Enter your email
- Check your email for reset link
- Enter a new password
5. Forgot password (Social login account)
Solution:
- Social login accounts don’t have passwords
- Just click Sign In with GitHub/Google again
- If you forgot the password to your social account (Google, GitHub), follow the instructions as provided by the respective social site
6. Images not uploading
Problem: Character image upload fails or shows error.
Solutions:
- Check file size (max usually 2-5 MB)
- Ensure format is JPG or PNG
- Reduce image dimensions if very large (4000×4000+)
- Try a different image
- Check your internet connection
7. Verification taking too long
Problem: Character has been “Pending” for a long time.
Solutions:
- Normal verification takes 1-5 minutes
- If over 15 minutes, try refreshing the page
- Check verification comments for any feedback
- If stuck, try editing the character (small change) or requesting verification again
8. Cannot delete account
Problem: Delete account option not working.
Solutions:
- If social login account: First set a password via password reset
- Then try deletion again with your new password
- Contact support if issue persists
9. Resolving 500 Errors When Opening Chats
Problem: Experiencing an intermittent 500 error when launching a chat window.
Solutions:
- This rare issue may occur when multiple chat windows are opened simultaneously. A simple page refresh will resolve it.
