Starting a Chat
With Your Own Characters
- Go to My Characters
- Click the character (Private Verified or Community)
- You’ll see the character’s page with scenario options (if available)
- Select a scenario or chat type:
- New Chat: Start a regular conversation without specific scenario
- New Chat – Scenario ?: Start with a predefined scenario
- Our Story: Start a persistent chat with memory context from your past conversations
- The chat interface will open after a short while
With Community Characters
- Go to the main page of CharacterSphere.ai
- Click on any character that interests you
- View the character profile
- Click New Chat to start chatting without scenario, New Chat – Scenario ? for a specific scenario, or Our Story for a persistent chat with memory
Mobile Devices

Scenario Selection
When starting a chat, you can choose:
- Scenario 1-5: Predefined conversation starters created by the character author
- New Chat: Start your own conversation without a scenario (always available)
- Our Story: Start a persistent chat that uses your saved memories for continuity
Scenarios provide:
- Context for the conversation
- An interesting starting point
- Guidance for the AI on the situation
Note: You can have multiple chats created for the same scenario – each of them will be a separate scenario progression.
Our Story – Persistent Memory Chats
Our Story chats enable persistent memory functionality, allowing characters to remember your past conversations:
- Memory Injection: When you start an “Our Story” chat, the character receives context from your previously saved conversations
- Deeper Interactions: Characters reference past events, creating continuity and emotional depth
- Image Context: Saved memories include both conversation summaries and associated images
Status Icons in Your Chat List:
- 💾 Saved to Memory: This conversation has been saved to the character’s memory bank
- ✨ Using Memories: This chat is an “Our Story” chat using saved memories
- 💾✨ Both: This conversation is using memories AND has been saved previously
Keeping Memories Updated: If you save a conversation and then continue it with new developments, you’ll need to save it again to preserve that additional progress.
Using the Chat Interface
The chat interface includes:
Message Area:
- Shows the whole conversation history
- Scenario message (if selected) appears at the start
- Shows character’s main image
Input Box:
- Type your message at the bottom
- Press Enter or click Send to send
- Shift+Enter for a new line
Features:
- Messages stream in real-time
- Conversation is automatically saved
- You can scroll back through history
- Chat continues across sessions (just return to the same chat from My Characters / My Chats page)
- Save to Memory: Click the “Save to Memory” button to store conversation summaries with images
Note: Chat interface is currently not supported on mobile devices (coming soon)
Chat Tips
For the best experience:
- Be specific: Clear messages get better responses
- Be verbose: The more information you provide in your message, the better response from the character
- Stay in character: Respond appropriately to the scenario
- Be patient: AI responses may take a few seconds
- Explore scenarios: Try different scenarios with the same character for variety
- Respect the character: Follow the personality and world established by the creator
Example of good interaction:
- Character: “Welcome to my shop, traveler. What brings you to these parts?”
- Good response: “I’m looking for a rare healing potion. I heard you’re the best alchemist in the region.”
- Less effective: “hi” or “idk”
Viewing Your Chats
- Log in to your account
- Click My Characters / My Chats in the navigation menu
- You’ll see all your active chats listed with:
- Character name
- Scenario (if applicable)
- When the chat started
- Memory Status Icons:
- 💾 – Conversation saved to Memory
- ✨ – Using saved memories (Our Story chat)
- Click any chat to continue the conversation – it will open the chat interface with all the history of the messages.
Deleting a Chat
To remove a chat permanently:
- Go to My Characters / My Chats
- Click the chat you want to delete
- Click the Delete button
- The chat and all its messages will be permanently removed
Note: You can always start a new chat with the same character and scenario.
Memory Protection: If a conversation is saved to memory, its images will be preserved even after deletion. Regular chats (not saved) will have their images removed.
