Starting a Chat

With Your Own Characters:

1. Go to My Characters
2. Click the character (Private Verified or Community)
3. You’ll see the character’s page with scenario options (if available)
4. Select a scenario (or choose New Chat to start chatting without specific scenario)
5. Click New Chat – Scenario ?
6. The chat interface will open after a short while

With Community Characters:

1. Go to the main page of CharacterSphere.ai
2. Click on any character that interests you
3. View the character profile
4. Click New Chat to start chatting without scenario, or New Chat – Scenario ? to start a chat with a specific scenario

Scenario Selection

When starting a chat, you can choose:

• Scenario 1-5: Predefined conversation starters created by the character author
• New Chat: Start your own conversation without a scenario (always available)

Scenarios provide:

• Context for the conversation
• An interesting starting point
• Guidance for the AI on the situation

Note: You can have multiple chats created for the same scenario – each of them will be a separate scenario progression.

Using the Chat Interface

The chat interface includes:

Message Area:

• Shows the whole conversation history
• Scenario message (if selected) appears at the start
• Shows character’s main image

Input Box:

• Type your message at the bottom
• Press Enter or click Send to send
• Shift+Enter for a new line

Features:

• Messages stream in real-time
• Conversation is automatically saved
• You can scroll back through history
• Chat continues across sessions (just return to the same chat from My Characters / My Chats page)

Note: Chat interface is currently not supported on mobile devices (coming soon)

Chat Tips

For the best experience:

1. Be specific: Clear messages get better responses
2. Be verbose: The more information you provide in your message, the better response from the character
3. Stay in character: Respond appropriately to the scenario
4. Be patient: AI responses may take a few seconds
5. Explore scenarios: Try different scenarios with the same character for variety
6. Respect the character: Follow the personality and world established by the creator

Example of good interaction:

• Character: “Welcome to my shop, traveler. What brings you to these parts?”
• Good response: “I’m looking for a rare healing potion. I heard you’re the best alchemist in the region.”
• Less effective: “hi” or “idk”

Viewing Your Chats

1. Log in to your account
2. Click My Characters / My Chats in the navigation menu
3. You’ll see all your active chats listed with:
   • Character name
   • Scenario (if applicable)
   • When the chat started
4. Click any chat to continue the conversation – it will open the chat interface with all the history of the messages.

Deleting a Chat

To remove a chat permanently:

1. Go to My Characters / My Chats
2. Click the chat you want to delete
3. Click the Delete button
4. The chat and all its messages will be permanently removed

Note: You can always start a new chat with the same character and scenario.

Keyboard Shortcuts (Chat)

• Enter: Send message
• Shift+Enter: New line in message
• Ctrl+K or Cmd+K: Focus on input box (may vary by browser)
